Sensors Expo 2014
Batteries will play an increasingly important role in everyday business as wireless sensor devices depend on reliable power to support the Internet of Things. Saft, the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of advanced technology batteries for industry, provides long-life, reliable and efficient batteries to power the Internet of Things and will showcase its energy storage and power system design capabilities for wireless sensor applications during the Sensors Expo 2014, at booth #815, June 25 – 26, in Rosemont, Ill.
Wayne Pitt, Business Development Manager for Saft, will present at the conference on the topic of “High Temperature Lithium-ion: Extending Temperature Range and Run Time in Harsh Environments,” at 1:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday, June 25. Saft will also host a happy hour with a presentation on “Batteries Powering the Internet of Things” at its booth, from 4:00pm – 5:00 p.m. EST.
“Sensor applications themselves are varied in terms of energy needs, power requirements, physical and environmental requisites, so they require a wide range of compatible energy solutions,” said Pitt. “Underperformance or failure of the power source for these wireless sensors can result in steep operating costs, loss of function, and even safety concerns, so it is imperative to have an understanding of the variety of high-performance power solutions necessary today.”
Saft batteries require zero maintenance and provide Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) and Machine to Machine (M2M) applications with reliable and autonomous operation under all conditions. Saft will showcase its Lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SoCI2), Lithium sulfur dioxide (Li-SO2), Lithium-manganese dioxide (Li-MnO2), and lithium-ion (Li-ion) product ranges at the show.
The company’s primary lithium cells and batteries directly power IoT terminal devices over a wide range of uncontrolled climatic conditions, requiring no maintenance or replacement throughout the lifetime of the device. Long-life, rechargeable Li-ion cells and batteries offer broad operational temperature range to support WSN energy harvesting systems. Saft’s high-temperature primary lithium batteries have the ability to withstand harsh environments and temperatures up to 150 C. They also have an energy storage option to guarantee energy autonomy for the lifetime of the device.
Currently, Saft delivers premium power solutions to a wide range of industrial, business and home sensor applications, backed by more than 30 years of experience. Additionally, Saft’s primary lithium portfolio is proven to last up to two decades, a life-cycle longer than the meter itself, in outdoor metering applications.
Saft offers a wide range of primary and rechargeable lithium batteries ideally suited to meet the needs of wireless sensor network applications. Whether industrial, commercial, or residential, Saft’s batteries offer the performance, quality, longevity, and autonomous operation required of any type of sensor application:
· Saft provides its LS AA and D size lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCI2) cells to Zebra Technologies, as it continues to help organizations gain enterprise asset intelligence through applications such as asset tracking.
· Saft also provides its LS 17500 and LS 14500 Li-SOCl2 cells to Savi for its active RFID tags used to track shipping containers, vehicles, and other large assets.
· Additionally, Saft supplies its LO 26 SX Lithium-Sulphur Dioxide (Li-SO2) cells to ACK Technologies, Inc. for their Emergency Locator Transmitter.
With a global presence, Saft has the ability to support worldwide customers with WSN and M2M manufacturing and deployment solutions.
