Oscar Simonsson is a Work Environment Engineer at Saft’s Oskarshamn site in Sweden. His position covers a broad range of responsibilities concerning safety, meaning the safety of his colleagues and general site safety. He likes to find new safety practices for the site and maintain good statistics for Oskarshamn.
Oscar likes working on several projects at the same time – finding new protective equipment to have the best working conditions and working on Saft’s Safety Week, an important moment for all colleagues to focus on, and discuss, safety. Since 2017, Saft organizes an annual Safety Week across the company to highlight that safety comes first and to bring all 4,300 colleagues together around this important subject. This year, he highlighted and explained the near misses on the site. He also worked with HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) partners on joint initiatives. He organized activities for all his colleagues, such as how to drive a forklift safely and how to use a harness the correct way. These were important moments for the people of the Oskarshamn site. It allowed them to spend time together and they even shared a cake decorated with Saft’s safety mascot – Safty – on the last day!
Oscar joined Saft in 2015, having worked as a Work Environment Engineer at other companies. He enjoys working on a wide variety of projects and with different colleagues. Today, his role at Saft offers a good mix of health and safety projects – a fitting combination for someone with an Engineering degree specialized in HSE. To work at Saft, Oscar recommends you like changes, because it’s a company that is developing fast.
Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and two kids and going into the forest. His hobbies are hunting and fishing.
