Mirella’s position covers a broad range of responsibilities, including everything related to tax for each of the 19 countries in which Saft operates. The workload doesn’t put her off though – she loves her job and maintains that one of her reasons for joining Saft was knowing there was no risk of her getting bored.
She joined Saft two years ago, after having worked as a lawyer for seven years and managing the tax function of a B2C business for another four.
One of her first tasks on her arrival at Saft remains one of her favorites: working on the Research Tax Credit. Every year, Saft spends a significant amount on Research & Development, so it was important for Mirella to understand the scope and financial values of the R&D projects. To do so, she worked directly with research teams at two of the company’s French sites, Bordeaux and Poitiers. It was a truly memorable experience. The people she met were passionate and intent on helping her understand their work and how research accompanies business. This allowed her to get to the heart of Saft right from the start.
She was also taken by the friendly atmosphere and helpfulness of her colleagues. Even if her work doesn’t put her in direct contact with batteries, she feels proud to belong to a company that creates products with such diverse and captivating applications – a personal favorite is Saft’s work with the Rosetta mission.
A mother of three, she still manages to find a good balance between her professional and personal life, in part by sharing the household tasks with her husband. This allows her to spend most of her Saturdays at the swimming pool with her children and become an expert in fun-shaped birthday cakes.
