What a journey its been so far, and so many emotions; ambition, vision, excitement, challenges, and now finally… expectations are high for our new production levels!
Our site in Poitiers was buzzing yesterday to the cheers of our colleagues who were celebrating the opening of our new electrolyte facility. Ghislain Lescuyer, CEO of Saft and Lenny Cypel, General Manager of the Saft Poitiers site, along with Chantal Castelnot, Prefect of Vienne, Jocelyn Snoeck Sub-Prefect of Vienne, Sacha Houlié, Deputy of Vienne, Léonore Moncond’huy, Mayor of Poitiers, and Florence Jardin, President of Grand Poitiers, came to inaugurate the building of which marks a significant step in our growth as well as future developments in electrolyte technologies!
This new facility allows us to double the electrolyte production capacity of the Saft site in Poitiers. Instead of 500 tons of electrolyte per year, 1000 tons is now the norm! This enables us to greatly improve our lead times, with the capability of fulfilling orders just 8 weeks between the date of order to delivery, for our high running references of the LS range. Our objective is to be ever more responsive to the growing demands of our IoT customers who, in turn, can be more agile and reactive in the deployment of their product and accordingly improve their time to market.
The electrolyte is the essential component in the manufacture of Saft’s primary lithium batteries. It plays a major role in the performance, resistance and longevity of the batteries. Here at Saft, we have been producing our own electrolyte, via a proprietary process that we control from start to finish. This ensures long lifetime, optimal and repeatable performance.
This opening marks a major milestone of the 3 year, 20 million euros investment program for our Poitier site, that was started in 2018. All the more power to us… and to you!
