Take back policy for spent industrial batteries

Take back policy for spent nickel-based batteries

As part of our voluntary product stewardship program, Saft has worked hard to develop and implement a service to end users of nickel based batteries when having to deal with their end of life.

In most Member States of the European Union, as well as in North America and in several countries in Africa and Asia where our Group has sales activities, Saft has identified and set up a network of logistical partners acting as “Bring Back Points (BBPs)” as well as recycling operators in order to assist end-users in finding a legally compliant and eco-friendly solution for spent industrial nickel based batteries manufactured by the Saft Group... > More information

Take back policy for spent industrial lithium primary (non-rechargeable) batteries

In the following EU Member States, there is a Saft subsidiary which meets the Producer definition as spelled out in the batteries directive:

  • France: Saft SAS
  • Germany: Tadiran GmBH
  • United Kingdom: Saft Ltd

As holders of Producer status, these three entities comply with the registration, reporting, and take back requirements, as required by batteries directive 2006/66/EC and its national transpositions in each of these Member States.

Please refer to the information located in the “Bring Back Points” section of this web site for details regarding the implementation of the take back service in each of these Member States.

Take back policy for spent industrial Li-ion (rechargeable) batteries

Saft is currently working to expand to Li-ion (rechargeable) batteries the services currently provided by our network of Bring Back Points (BBPs) to end users of nickel based batteries.

As we implement this new service, we expect to continue to provide a free of charge take back and recycling service from the Bring Back Point onward, including transportation to the recycling site and the recycling operation, to the benefit of end users located in all EU Member States where a BBP operates.

In other parts of the world, we intend to propose this service as a complement to our commercial offering.
