Agricultural tools

Saft rechargeable batteries have helped to facilitate the introduction of cordless power tools for agricultural applications, where they have to cope with tough and demanding conditions. Typical agricultural tool applications for Saft batteries include:

• cordless cutting shears used in the wine industry and arboriculture for tree pruning
• equipment to shake olive trees during the harvest season
• tying machining to attach branches to supports, such as for wine or vegetable growing

Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries

Saft has designed a range of Ni-Cd (VRE) and Ni-MH (VH) batteries to meet the specific needs of agricultural power tools including:

• robust design to resist the knocks and general abuse found in an outdoor agricultural environment
• high power as in many applications a single daily charge has to provide enough power for up to 8 hours of continuous operation
• 3 to 5 years life duration as over a typical harvest season the tool batteries will be recharged between 100 to 150 times
• light weight which is especially important for tree pruning equipment where ease of use is vital.
