Life jackets and life rafts
There are few situations where battery performance is more critical than on personal flotation devices like life jackets and rafts, whether in swimming pools, rivers or lakes, or the wide ocean.
Life preservers, from simple life vests or jackets to buoys, rafts and small craft, are fitted with flashing lamps to attract search and rescue crews.
These battery-powered survival lights must work without fail for up to 12 hours. Some lamps are turned on by the wearer (primary lithium: LS/LST/LSG, LSH, LO/G, LM/M), while others are automatically activated by contact with water (Ag-ClMg).
Saft batteries will perform when needed, despite lengthy storage at sea, often under widely varying conditions of temperature, humidity and vibration.
