Battery systems & chargers (for defence applications) - Military Li-ion battery packs

Rechargeable battery

The Saft military Li-ion battery packs are custom-designed for integration into ruggedised portable devices for use in demanding combat and training situations. The packs may be assembled from cylindrical VL or prismatic MP Lithium-ion cells in series, parallel or series-parallel combinations and are available with ‘soft’ (heat-shrink plastic) enclosures or ‘hard’ (plastic or metal) casings. A key feature of their construction is electronic protection against charger fault and abuse operating conditions.

Typically, the Saft military Li-ion battery packs will include safety features such as electronic protection, thermal fuses, PTCs and diodes, as necessary. Some versions also include LED fuel gauge. All of the packs can be charged on various constant current / constant voltage chargers, especially Saft’s EcMC2 family. They can also be fitted with state of charge indicators and SM Bus communication.
