Saft is proud to be the developer of the finest aviation battery training course in the world. As a service to our customers, the training program known as Battery University has been developed to assist in the optimization of service life and control of associated operational costs through proper use and maintenance of Saft nickel-cadmium batteries.

Objectives

  • To acquire the maximum autonomy in the maintenance and repair operations
  • To learn fundamental details of Saft aviation battery
  • To be able to identify the circumstances that may require Saft assistance (return for repair and/or expertise request).

Course content

Over full two days, the training program includes:

  • Basic Ni-Cd battery electrochemistry, 
  • Ni-Cd operational characteristics,
  • Aviation battery troubleshooting, safety and environmental practices,
  • A comprehensive review of recommended battery maintenance practices.

Sessions integrate interactive exercises with detailed written materials and multi-media presentations.

The Battery University is held on premises at Saft's two aviation battery manufacturing facilities:

Reference

The Battery University curriculum is authorized by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration as a certified Inspection Authorization (IA), and is also recognized for its value by Airbus. The training is worth eight hours of credit towards Inspection Authorization (IA) renewal.  In addition, the Valdosta location offers an abbreviated version of the program that can be requested for 1 hour of FAA sanctioned refresher training.

Battery University class schedule

Training courses on the operation and maintenance of aviation batteries will be held throughout calendar year 2009 at Saft's production facilities in Bordeaux, France and Valdosta, Georgia, USA.

Classes are primarily taught in French and English, but translation arrangements can be made. 

If your organization would like to schedule a special training session at a time other than those listed, please contact Saft with your request. 

Saft may cancel or re-schedule a session if there are not enought attendants in the same language.
