Johnson Controls-Saft will be providing lithium-ion batteries for BMW’s 7 Series ActiveHybrid car, currently being showcased at the Paris motor show. Lithium-ion batteries are 30 percent smaller and 50 percent lighter than NiMH batteries used in hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) on the road today.
Saft to supply Li-ion batteries for commercial GEO satellites to JSC ISS of Russia

Saft has signed a contract with JSC ISS , Russia’s largest commercial satellite company, to supply lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery systems to power GEO (geostationary earth orbit) commercial satellites based on the Express-1000H platform. The multi million euro contract - including options for the future spacecrafts - was ratified in Sotchi (Russia) Saturday, September 20.
